Project overview

In the context of a society increasingly concerned with sustainability, nations worldwide are progressively fostering a robust consensus for the development of electric vehicles. As the electric vehicle market experiences tremendous growth, there is a corresponding rapid increase in the number of retired batteries.

The aim of the project is to discuss the sustainable recycling of retired batteries in the context of the continuous increase in the number of retired batteries. Sustainable recycling is crucial for the disposal of retired batteries, as it needs to consider the general trend of sustainable development, the protection of the environment, energy efficient use, economic viability, long-term viability of the technology, the constant updating of relevant regulations, the cooperation and competition among stakeholders.

Among them, the project focuses on the discussion of recycling networks, closed-loop reuse construction, relevant policy development and impact, different recycling business models, and stakeholder relationships.

This project will contribute to improving the sustainability of retired battery recycling by enabling supply chain members to propose ways to:

  • improve the efficiency and sustainability of the battery recycling process
  • attract investment and develop business models
  • improve the efficiency of evaluating the recycling process
  • reduce the environmental harm caused by improper disposal
  • foster a culture of responsible consumerism
  • incentivise responsible battery recycling practices
