Project overview

Due to rising market volatility, B2B relationships have recently faced increased uncertainty on both the supply and demand sides. This uncertainty has made it challenging to align cost-reduction strategies with market responsiveness, owing to issues with information sharing and trust .The lack of adequate information sharing, trust and collaboration within the supply chain disrupts the implementation of a lean strategy to eliminate various forms of waste known as "Muda". On the other hand it is critical to recognize that cost reduction is not the sole goal of enterprises. This assumption was evident during the Covid-19 pandemic, when firms following the concepts of Just-In-Time (JIT), a lean technique, faced obstacles such as stock shortages and difficulty satisfying varied business and consumer expectations ). These forces pushed these businesses to reduce their emphasis on lean practices to improve their response to market shifts and agility.

The ability of a supply chain to manage changes and overcome obstacles can be improved from the perspective of DCV theory by improving capabilities within the chain.  There are some issues to consider in traditional supply chains, like struggling to adapt to personalized customer requirements as market competition has increased and customer demands have shifted. This conflict has highlighted the potential of Decentralized information technologies (DIT) that can promote transparency of information in real-time, prediction of changes such as the Walmart case in the prediction of disaster and in Toyota, the applicability of tracking and traceability and safety based on decentralized information which gave trust between partners.
