Electrification Process Innovation Centre

The North East is leading the way in developing the knowledge, skills and manufacturing that will be key to greater electrification.

Opportunity

Your investment will help to develop EPIC, the Electrification Process Innovation Centre.

EPIC will build on the North East of England's strengths in electrification. It will help achieve the UK Government’s goal of a globally competitive supply chain that supports economic prosperity and the net zero transition.

From batteries to electric vehicle manufacturing the North East of England is leading the electrification agenda. As the sector grows, EPIC will establish a "one-stop-shop" to support businesses to:

  • educate and upskill their workforce

  • deliver manufacturing and processing using latest technologies

It will be located close to industrial and development spaces to maximise the "cluster effect" seen at AMRC, WMG and Harwell.

The centre will coordinate:

  • existing power electronics, machines and drives testing capability

  • new equipment for the development of battery technology

  • work on connected autonomous vehicles

  • skills development with classroom space and hands-on training facilities
