Scholarships schemes extended to support international students

Newcastle University has extended its prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence and Vice- Chancellor’s Global Scholarship schemes.

With an additional institutional investment of £0.5 million, the funding underlines the University’s continued commitment to supporting and attracting the best and brightest students from across the world to study for their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Newcastle.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships will provide successful international applicants with up to 100% of tuition fee coverage, with the total amounts varying between individual schemes.

Professor Richard Davies, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Global and Sustainability, Newcastle University, said: “Our students come from more than 170 countries around the world and contribute to the cultural and intellectual life of the university and the city, positively enriching the international experience for the whole community.

“In return, we are committed to providing them with excellent, research-led teaching delivered by dedicated and passionate teachers. We are a global leader in ageing and health, data, energy, cities, and culture and the creative arts. This vision for excellence, creativity and impact is embedded in our courses and the learning experience of our students.

“We are delighted to have been able to extend our scholarships scheme in this way and to support the next cohort of international students to achieve their academic ambitions. We look forward to welcoming them to campus later this year.”

The Vice-Chancellor’s Global and Excellence Scholarship schemes have been running at Newcastle University for five years and have supported hundreds of international students.

Applications are now open for students who looking to start their studies in September 2024.
