Free symposium and exhibition
Date/Time: Thursday 12 January 7pm - late
Venue: TigerTiger, Newgate St, NE1 5RE
The city of Newcastle upon Tyne has evolved spatially, economically and legislatively to accommodate the playground of consumption and intoxication affiliated with its infamous nightlife.
Newcastle After Dark explores the architecture of the city after dark; a dense fabric of interior spaces catering for excitement and excess alongside the urban spaces connecting them.
Final year MArch students have led on a linked-research project into the spaces and cultures of the night-time economy in Newcastle city centre, culminating in a symposium and film-screening evening in TigerTiger, one of the venues explored in the research.
Promoters, door staff, researchers and designers have contributed to the research project, and will be discussing their role in the night of the city between 7.30 and 9pm.
Please join us from 7pm till late for a series of short talks, film screenings and a photographic exhibition of the city’s night spaces. Drinks will be available from 7pm – 8.30pm, and a cash bar will operate after.
